Gluggafoss Waterfall

 

Gluggafoss (also known as Merkjárfoss)  is a beautiful waterfall that is often overlooked by travellers and even Icelandic travellers.

Gluggar in  Icelandic means Windows. It is a serial waterfall from the river Merkjaá
Gluggafoss has a total height of approximately 52 m and features two main drops: one for 44 m into a narrow recess,  
the lover one is possible to  walk behind 
we definitely recommend visiting this Waterfall  it will surprise 
Directions from Eyvindarholt Hill House and Cabins:

Gluggafoss is nearby Eyvindarholt Hill House and Cabins. You drive west on the main road for about 5 minutes and then you turn right on the Dímonarvegur, number 250. You drive past the mountain Stóri-Dímon and turn left on to Fljótshlíðarvegur number 261. After the bridge, you find the exit to Gluggafoss on your right, right after the bridge.

Difficulty level: Easy

Walking distance: It is only about 100 meters walk from the parking to the waterfall. 

Estimated walking time (one way): The walk takes about 5 minutes to the waterfall Gluggafoss.
